There is something so magical about Shenandoah National Park, especially when the fog rolls in. Samirah and Ronin’s elopement was full of that magic.

Getting Ready


We started the afternoon at a cozy cabin Airbnb, where the couple was surrounded by their closest family. The space was buzzing with excitement, laughter, and all the sweet little details they had prepared for me to capture. Samirah had everything ready, and I loved how intentional she and Ronin were about weaving meaning into their day. Photographing those details was such a joy.

Ceremony


When it was time for the ceremony, we headed up into Shenandoah. The fog was so heavy we could barely see beyond a few feet, but it made the day feel extra intimate, as if the whole world was wrapped up in their love story. Their officiant, the two of them, and me. That was it, and it was absolutely perfect. Samirah and Ronin exchanged the sweetest vows, and the quiet, misty setting made every word feel even more powerful.

Portraits


Afterward, we took a few portraits in the fog. Instead of sweeping mountain views, we leaned into the moodiness of the weather. Samirah and Ronin loved the flash look and wanted their photos to have a Polaroid-style feel, so I played with that approach, and the results were SO fun and romantic!

Ronin is a Marine stationed in Hawaii, and I want to take a moment to thank him for his service. It is always an honor to photograph military couples. Their love stories often stretch across states, countries, and deployments, so getting to document a day where they can simply be together is incredibly special.

Samirah and Ronin’s Shenandoah elopement is a beautiful reminder that you do not need a big guest list or mountain views to make your wedding unforgettable. All you really need is love, intention, and a place that feels right for the two of you.
