Dale really outdid himself with this one. From the very beginning, he wanted to make sure Sydney was completely surprised. He even told her to start wearing the outfit she wanted to get engaged in pretty often so she wouldn’t catch on when the real moment came. (Honestly, genius.) We texted back and forth to nail down the plan, and when the day finally came, I was tucked away behind some trees getting eaten alive by gnats, trying to stay hidden until it happened. Totally worth it, though because when Dale dropped to one knee, Sydney’s reaction was priceless. The spot he chose couldn’t have been better. They already love coming up here to watch the sunset, so it felt like the perfect mix of personal and romantic. After she said yes, we wandered around for some photos on the mountain, with their truck, and just soaking in all those just-engaged smiles. Being there for moments like this never gets old.
