Any couple willing to climb on top of a bar and spend five minutes hunting for the perfect light with me is exactly who I love working with. Taylor and Kamren live in Colorado and were in DC for the holidays, which made it the perfect time to squeeze in their engagement session. Even though it was cold (very cold), they braved it without hesitation and somehow made it look effortless the entire time.


Renting the Fountain Inn ended up being such a great choice for their engagement photos in Washington, DC. Having the space for about two hours gave us the freedom to slow things down, move through different areas, and really take advantage of how the light shifted throughout the session. From soft natural light to darker corners that worked perfectly for flash, the Fountain Inn offers a lot of variety without feeling overwhelming or overdone, especially for couples who want their DC engagement photos to feel relaxed and natural.


Taylor and Kamren were so fun to work with and fully down for whatever I suggested. They were incredibly easy to direct, joyful, and clearly comfortable together, which always makes photographing couples feel less like a photoshoot and more like just hanging out.


At the beginning of the shoot, Taylor suggested putting on Olivia Dean, and that pretty much sealed it because that is exactly how I want my photos to feel. Sessions like this are such a reminder that the best engagement photos happen when couples show up as themselves and let things unfold naturally.


Their love feels easy and genuine, and I already can’t wait to photograph their wedding at Castlebrook Estates this September. If their engagement session at the Fountain Inn in DC is any indication, it’s going to be such an amazing day!
